A memory of the past…

Getting a real job after college graduation has always been a no easy thing. After taking the July 2011 Nursing Licensure Examination, I planned of getting immediately a job and try to be independent especially on financial matters. “My own money, my own expenses!” However, the getting started question (?) is usually the hardest part. I started making a resume and organized it in a chronological order. Let’s say this is the start of putting what I’ve learnt from school into action. If you’re having a hard time making your resume, just google a sample, use its format then fill in your personal and professional qualifications in it. Now, I’m ready with my resume but to whom shall I pass it? Using the different search engines, I surfed for job vacancies within 30 kilometers parameter near my home and I also registered to jobsites like http://www.jobstreet.com.ph. I listed down all the prospect jobs I’ve seen and without realizing it, most vacancies that I wrote down were call center – related jobs. Well, I guess, the outsourcing business industry is what’s common nowadays. Nevertheless, I passed my resume personally and even through online. Few days later, I received a message from a call center indicating the date and time for an initial assessment and interview. I confirmed and went to their office for the schedule set for me. The first assessment was the typing-speed test and it was only a piece of cake. I answered well all the questions thrown to me during the interview, but there was one thing they’ve put into question, my course “Nursing”. The HR told me that in most cases, some nursing graduates and nurses don’t last to the position given to them in searching for a greener pasture whether in local or abroad. It was the reason slammed to me and denied my application for their offered job. At first, I felt that I became a victim of stereotyping among nurses but I realized that the scenario to a certain extent is true. I managed to get back my composure, smiled back to the HR and thanked her for their time entertaining my application. Life’s so difficult but it became my training ground. I started to understand how things are going around in this life and yes, I got more lessons to learn. What just happened is the first arrow that would direct me to the place destined to me. Let the search continue…
